So I just got a call from my Dad who is borrowing Towburban.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

He called to tell me the brakes just failed and he had to slam it into reverse going about 30 before they blew through a read light into heavy traffic in Somerville. As can be seen I have broken a ton of stuff on this truck, and given that it leaks out of every seal I think she is dead.. Of course now my Dad and sister are stranded with a broken truck full of her stuff as she is moving this week.

I can’t sell the truck with a broken brake line and not 100% sure she would pass inspection if I fixed the brake lines. MA does not allow for as-is junk sales. So I think shes off to the scrapper.

So question time. Do I :

A. Find a new beater truck.
B. give up on trucks and just rent when needed (which is often)
C. Trade the Fiesta in pray I break even and buy a 4 Door pickup.

I do love the F150 Crew Cab. The adjustable pedals are great for going between my wife and I (about a foot difference in height).

Oh well its just money, who need that right?

Is there anything that still works? Would it be worth frankensteining it together with another cheap half busted one?

Well this is currently what is wrong

1. Motor has low compression (valve seats)
2. Passenger front door bottom rotted and covered in metal tape
3. Rear barn doors don’t lock or unlock, hinges are bad, and rusted out
4. Rear drivers door only manually unlocks
5. Front Differential leaking
6. Front U-Joint needs replacing
7. Now needs 2 new rear brake lines
8. Passenger front wheel needs upper/lower ball joints
9. Shocks destroyed
10. Transmission is leaking and now just got slammed into reverse going forward.
11. Transmission wont downshift under load while towing (actually have to manually drop it to not stall out)
12. Rust, rust, more rust, even more rust,

List goes on past that. So not sure honestly

They don’t allow as-is junk sales? So you can’t buy/sell a project car or a parts car?

How did you tow things with this car, even before the brakes went? O.o

WOT, WOT, and more WOT. Sometimes on 5-7 cylinders depending on the day. Who needed to stop.

Its questionable in MA. You can buy project cars but if I sold it to someone I run the risk of them coming back if it fails inspection (which it probably will). I mean its not worth all that much anyways.

How often do you need to tow stuff, and how heavy is this stuff? Can you get by with something like a minivan if you’re just moving stuff around? You can probably pick up a Caravan pretty cheap, rip the seats out, and use that as your truck.

Get a different truck, new or used. F-series are great.

I’m still doing house construction, so 4x8 sheets of plywood, sheet rock, etc. I am also going to be building a 2 car garage soon and I have my classic car that I am restoring that I tow. Recently I have been grabbing a trailer or materials in the back every other week.

Yeah its mostly so you cant sell a car that fails emissions.

Pretty sure the plywood and sheetrock would fit. Not so sure about the tow capacity though. I guess truck it is (or full size van, maybe).

My dad had an old dodge caravan that would fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood, but I am not sure if anything newer than the 90s will fit one. The biggest issue is with 4 bags of concrete mix it would bog down massively.
